MACHINE TOOL & PLANT RELOCATION

Our MTA one-stop service, covering single large capacity machine tools or plant relocations, include, but are not limited to :

  • Complete Project Management – from port to warehouse, container delivery to installation and turnkey operation.
  • Floorplan Drawing Interpretation – Interpretation of supplied detail drawings , electrically and service line schematics.
  • Oversee Handling – Ensure lifting and freight hold down is within the maker’s guidelines and within precision machine tool standards.
  • Oversee Freight – Abnormal load transportation, packing and preparation for temporary storage (rust prevention, securing moving part, soft packing vertical slides from impact)
  • Crane Choice – Oversee choice of types of cranes / forks to suit specific lifts, site turning circles, roof heights & manoeuvrability. Forward planning re accessories i.e skates, porta power packs, spreader bars, lifting bars etc.
  • Foundations – Installation of machinery press pits, independent foundation for precision machine tools.
  • Turnkey Installation – SWMS submission. Decommission (electro-mechanical) , prep and secure for removal. Co-ordinate cranage / handling & freight. Clean , remove anchor studs, hand back existing site. Relocate. Installation ( electro-mechanical) . Startup, hand over.

Machine Tool & Plant Relocation has become an important arm of the MTA package. Our largest project involved the relocation of 3 major rail work facilities at the State Rail site at Chullora, relocating all machine & plant equipment into 1 main service area. The project entailed all electro – mechanical work, installation of 15 independent concrete foundations for the precision machine tools, and turnkey handover status on all items.

This project was followed up by the decommissioning / relocation / recommissioning of all machine tools at the Qantas Heavy Maintenance facility at Bankstown (Sydney) to Tullamarine (Melbourne) . This project involved overseeing all project tasks in cranage & handling at both ends, interstate freight, electro –mechanical installation, as well as ducting and exhaust system installation (roof and internal)

Our other recent large installation project involved the installation of 2 x Simmons (USA) Underfloor Rail Wheel Profiling m/c’s – each in Sydney and Melbourne.

Both machine installations involved MTA overseeing the project from the delivery of the machine in containers to site, through to installation, working with the SMTC USA engineer.

Our relocation arm relies on a close working relationship with our preferred m/c tool cranage and freight contractors. We oversee all lifting operations to assist the crane riggers when moving precision machine tools. Our supply chain here in NSW and interstate ensures there are no time delays in waiting for special purpose fixtures or parts during  projects.
